     Any fisherman has heard the fame of the Yellowstone and the Bighorn Rivers and Tongue River Reservoir abounds with Walleye beauties. There are numerous other rivers, streams, reservoirs and ponds though out the area abundant with fish.  The outfitter we are working with is a very experienced fishing guide since 1985 and has written many articles about the outdoors and fishing. He and his son offer 1st Class day trips on Montana’s Bighorn River.

     The Bighorn River is one of the best trout streams in the lower 48 United States! The river supports a large population of Brown and Rainbow Trout (14’ and 16’ of length). The population stands at 3,000 Trout per mile. Normally, an angler can count on catching at least one Trout 20’ or longer in a day’s fishing!

  • Start your trip in Fort Smith, Montana
  • Fly fish all day for Rainbow and Brown Trout

  • Wolf Creek, Little Bighorn River, Big Goose Creek, lower Tongue River
  • Fly fish all day on small, picturesque trout streams for Rainbow and Trout

  • Canyon Creek
  • Fly fish all day for 8" to 16" Brown Trout in a secluded canyon
  • Have a tasty lunch on the water
  • Overnight at a cozy Lodge or tent camp at the Nature Conservancy

  • Everything can be re-arranged and customized for YOUR needs!

  • Price varies and depends upon group size

  • Individual tours also possible

  • Complete fishing equipment can be rented for an additional fee at the store

  • Local fishing guides can be contacted and hired for one or more days through the store

  • Maps can be purchased at the store and actual information about the Bighorn Mountains can be obtained there

Accommodation Options:

  • Kingfisher Lodgea very cozy, modern lodge with excellent rooms and meals. Located one half mile from the Three Mile Access site on the Bighorn River.

  • Two Leggins Lodgea recently constructed lodge that comfortably sleeps 12 persons. The rooms are very inviting and the food is as good as it can be!

Optional tours:

  • Fishing at Paintrock Creek available

  • Step-on guide for historical and local trips available

  • Visits like “Little Bighorn Battlefield”, the “Rosebud Battlefield” or “Ft. Phil Kearny” or the “Wagon Box Fight” site are available
